Costume: (Lord Mayor Sir W.A. Waterlow) The Black Robe of State, trimmed with gold, over the Old Style of Velvet Court Dress; (Sheriffs) The State Robes over the Old Style of Velvet Court Dress; (Lady Waterlow) "...gown of old-gold silken lace, that has part of its design outlined with rich embroidery of amber and white diamant� and bugles. It is posed over an underslip of fine needlerun lace in the same tint, similar to that forming the long cascading side panels of the dress. Miniature marguerites of amber and white diamant� make the belt that encircles the waist at a normal line, and also the shoulder-straps. The train of rich old-gold chiffon velvet scintiliates with exquisite embroidery in a design mingling roses and thistles, and a lining of gleaming gold lam� is an appropriate finishing touch" (The Morning Post, 9 November 1929, p 8d).)
